An architect with audio for almost 15 years, Mike Genato is now a key component in many projects including Drum & Bass production duo Mathematics, Hip Hop/R&B songwriting and production camp Strange Kids, the experimental funk sounds of HandinHand, and Hip Hop alter-ego The G:neus. Starting as a drum & bass producer in Mathematics in 1999, their soulful sound was released on a wide array of labels, including Hospital, Renegade, CIA, and Defunked, to name a few; and have been supported worldwide by DJ's such as LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Bryan Gee, Andy C, and Jason Bentley, making them one out of only a handful of stateside artists to crack the largely UK-dominated scene. Along the way, Mike delved into other genres including R&B, where he cut tracks for major artists Carl Thomas and Joe, as well as up-and-coming indie singer Peter Hadar. In 2003, NYC’s premier audio-post house, Expansion Team, added Mike to their roster of award-winning producers and songwriters to create music for TV. Originally brought in as the Drum & Bass artist, he quickly grew into a versatile composer integral to the company, landing job afer job producing Hip Hop, R&B, Funk, Drum & Bass, House, Rock, and Ska, as well as sound designing for high profile clients including New Balance, Nike, Mountain Dew, Volvo, HBO, VIACOM, Take 2 Interactive, and Wolverine. Currently, Mike is hard at work producing The G:neus debut album, co-producing Mathematics’ first album, writing music for the follow-up to Peter Hadar's Memories of the Heart, running two independent labels Social Studies and Unemployable NYC, and freelancing as Creative Director for Expansion Team.
